Leg 1: Swing for a Cause

In continuation of the spirit of giving and mission of our society to serve humanity, we're proud to announce the Bahay Aruga - Pediatric Cancer Patient is our chosen beneficiary of the proceeds from the Leg 1: Swing for a cause ASHRAE Golf Tournament.

Indeed, majority of the healthcare facilities in the country are not complying to the global standards hence, there is a high risk of lung cancer and other respiratory infections due to poor indoor air quality. In fact, according to the WHO, Household air pollution was responsible for an estimated 3.2 million deaths per year in 2020, including over 237 000 deaths of children under the age of 5. Moreover, Cancer is the 2nd leading cause of death worldwide in 2020. According to the source GLOBOCAN 2020, 153, 571 were diagnosed with cancer and recorded 92,606 deaths. In the Philippines, 189 out of 100,000 Filipinos were diagnosed with cancer, and every hour there are 4 Filipinos who die from it.

ASHRAE Philippines' advocacy is to continue to educate the stakeholders the importance of compliance to the standards and its implication to the indoor occupants.

The 1st leg tournament wouldn't be possible without the initiative of the ASHRAE Philippines research promotion committee and volunteers who commit their time to ensure the event is a success.
